Garth Selvey,
Non Executive Chairman
Garth Selvey has a BSc in Physics and Electronics Engineering from
the University of Manchester and has spent thirty six years in the
computer industry with technical, product, sales and marketing roles.
He became Managing Director of TIS Applications Ltd in 1984 and a
main board director of TIS Ltd prior to its acquisition by Misys
in 1989. He organised the management buyout of the social housing
division of Misys and became Group Chief Executive of Comino Group
plc when it floated on AIM in 1997. Comino moved to a full listing
in 1999 where he remained until its successful public sale to Civica
plc in February 2006.Garth joined ANGLE as a non-executive Director
in September 2006. |

Andrew Newland, Chief Executive
Andrew Newland is the founder of ANGLE and Chief Executive. He has an MA in Engineering Science from the University of Cambridge, and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. After working with the engineering conglomerate, TI plc, he worked for KPMG from 1982 to 1994; from 1985 to 1987 he was based in the US as a manager providing corporate finance and business advice to high technology firms in the area around Route 128, Boston, Massachusetts. From 1987 to 1994 he worked for KPMG in the UK with responsibility for establishing KPMG's UK and European High Technology Practices and High Technology Consulting Group. Andrew founded ANGLE in 1994. Together with ANGLE's senior management team, since 1999 Andrew has founded and led eleven other technology companies in partnership with world class research organisations, both in the UK and the US. Andrew has been instrumental in developing and then delivering the business proposition for these companies, building management teams, raising finance and securing revenues. |

Ian
Griffiths, Finance Director
Ian Griffiths has a BSc in Mathematics with Management Applications from Brunel University and is qualified as a chartered accountant. For seven years he worked for KPMG, initially in accountancy (1986 to 1990), then in management consulting (1990 to 1993) within KPMG's High Technology Consulting Group where he specialised in financial modelling, business planning, corporate finance, market development and strategy work. As well as leading the finance function at ANGLE, he has been closely involved with the development and delivery of the UK, US and Middle East Consulting and Management businesses and in developing new Ventures and supporting Progeny companies. After a career break he joined ANGLE in 1995. |

David Quysner, Non-executive Director
David Quysner has an MA from the University of Cambridge. He began his career at ICFC (now known as 3i) in 1969, where he gained experience in development and venture capital investment and corporate finance. In 1982, he joined Abingworth Management Limited, a venture capital fund management company, and became its Managing Director in 1994 and its Chairman in 2001. He was Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association in 1996/97. David is currently the Chairman of RCM Technology Trust plc and the Capital for Enterprise Board, a DTI appointment and a Director of Foresight VCT plc, Private Equity Investor plc and Prelude Trust plc. He joined ANGLE in 2004. |

Dr Gary Evans, US Chief Executive
Gary Evans has a BSc in Chemistry, a PhD in Physical Chemistry, and a Diploma in Management Science and was Visiting Professor in Innovation Management at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen from 1997 to 1999. Dr Evans undertook post-doctoral research in solid-state physics at the University of Cambridge from which he moved into the private sector, working in R&D management with Cambridge Life Sciences plc, where he was responsible for collaborative R&D, and managed a portfolio of development projects with partners which included Abbott Laboratories Inc and Ciba-Corning Diagnostics Corporation in the US and Fresenius AG in Germany. He then joined the development agency, Scottish Enterprise. Dr Evans joined ANGLE in 1997.

Denis Salamon, Principal
Denis has a BSc (Hons) in Physics and specialises in business opportunity identification, technology transfer and intellectual property exploitation. He has particular expertise in the identification and exploitation of new business opportunities for growth companies and in collaborative working with Universities. At ANGLE, Denis is responsible for public sector business support programmes, the development of opportunity analysis tools and the delivery of one to one business mentoring. He also lectures and trains in business planning, innovation, new product development, creative problem solving and accessing grant aid.
Prior to joining ANGLE, he managed the Merseyside TCS, (now KTP) Centre at Liverpool John Moores University developing technology and knowledge transfer opportunities. Denis’ early career was with the communication and electronics’ industry where he worked in intellectual property exploitation, R&D management, EU and DTI funded multi partner R&D programmes, new product development and corporate manufacturing strategy.

Martin Cooke, Principal
Martin is a Chartered Engineer and holds an MEng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Nottingham. He specialises in innovation and knowledge transfer projects supporting SMEs, particularly involving universities and other specialist knowledge centres. He has been the Project Manager of a number of ANGLE’s successful innovation support initiatives across the UK and is currently Project Director for the Knowledge Connect Programme in London.
Martin has also been responsible for developing a range of regional strategies for knowledge transfer, business incubation and innovation support across the UK and internationally.
He spent much of his early career as a practicing design engineer in telecommunications, instrumentation and information technology sectors. With considerable experience in the management and delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects, Martin has particular experience in developing and growing business relationships around new technology developments.

Bob Scott, Principal
Bob specialises and consults in the development and management of business incubators and innovation centres and the delivery of business innovation support programmes for small and start-up technology-based businesses.
His career includes over 30 years experience in senior management positions in technology and knowledge commercialisation, business support, technology transfer, academia and industry.
Bob is a Chartered Engineer with a master’s degree in geostatistics, a first class bachelor’s degree in engineering and a postgraduate teaching qualification. He is a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Shane Booth, Principal
Since joining ANGLE in 1997 to lead our management of a biotechnology business incubator for Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire, Shane Booth has been active across our core business areas of consulting on regional and national technology strategy, and the management of innovation based regional development programmes and infrastructure. Shane's professional roots are in biomedical research which he performed at the University of York, the Hutchinson Cancer Centre in Seattle, and as a member of the former AFRC. This, and his experience of business development in technology based sectors, combine perfectly in our most fundamental activity; the use of technology and innovation as a tool of business development and consequent regional economic generation. In addition to directing our management contracts in the biotechnology and healthcare fields he has contributed substantially to international activities including consulting and management contracts in Jamaica and the Middle East. All of these have benefited from his abilities increative thinking, project management, business and market analysis, and diplomacy. Shane's love of conversation and humour have long contributed to the cohesion of our teams and how enjoyable our work is.
